left;\">We visited the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/art\/exhibition\/levitated-mass\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8220;Levitated Mass&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> at the Los Angles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday.\u00a0 It was heavy.\u00a0 The LACMA website calls it a Megalith which in my mind makes this installation a <a href=\"http:\/\/simonburrow.com\/\/archives\/category\/henges\"><strong>henge<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The artist is <a href=\"http:\/\/doublenegative.tarasen.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Michael Heizer<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 What I admire most, having moved some big stones around myself, is that he was able to convince art patrons to put up the money to move and install the stone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/simonburrow.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_8219.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" left;\">Walking under the Levitated Mass gave me a control of nature feeling, as if I was taking a big risk, even though it is well designed and not in the least dangerous.<\/p>\n<p perspective:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This stone weighs about 330 tons.<\/li>\n<li>One of the large stones at Stonehenge weighs about 25 tons<\/li>\n<li>A medium sized office building, like the one in the background of these pictures weighs about 12,000 tons. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.officemuseum.com\/office_buildings.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Office building construction facts<\/strong> <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Levitating Mass can be seen as a driveby from 6th Street just East of Fairfax.\u00a0 But this exhibit is best seen from below.\u00a0 If you can find parking entry is free.\u00a0 Parking is $10 in the LACMA lot.<\/p>\n<p>We had lunch first with Gil and Nanci C. at <a href=\"http:\/\/shortorderla.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Short Order<\/strong><\/a> at the
