Ruck is a multi meaning word. A homonym<\/a> in fact. Its used to describe a pack is derived from the German rucksack but a ruck also describes a packed crowd of people. The heavy pack idea has spawned an exercise company and a sport built around carrying weighted backpacks. As a verb it means clothes or other fabric that are jumbled up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verb: “The baby had just woken and its nightgown was rucked up to its armpits.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noun: “He squeezed through the ruck in the bar to get another pint.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noun: “His ruck was heavy but he was used to it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
