The White Horse Tavern<\/a> in Newport, Rhode Island has a credible claim to be not only the oldest operating tavern in Rhode Island but also the oldest in the country. I didn\u2019t look into the details too far, but the beer was good and the company was excellent. Richard and I ventured down there from Michelle and George\u2019s house to try for a seat at the bar. We got one and met another interesting group doing the same attempt at a beer in an oldest bar. We were back at the house in time for a delicious dinner. <\/p>\n\n\n
