Noun: A thing at which one excels. Pronounced with a silent e as in “fort”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In music forte means “play loudly” and is<\/strong> pronounced for Tay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: “Her forte was organization.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I have been mispronouncing forte for at least 50 years and nobody has ever corrected me. I’m not sure what this says about my openness to correction or maybe we were all pronouncing “forte” wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
