The Keys to Happiness

“The keys to happiness are high hopes and low expectations.”

This maxim has been revised many times over the 20 years or so I have been writing this blog. I like this new version and I like the idea of thinking about what makes people happy. Other versions of the key to happiness

The photo is of Jack Gold’s key collection. He was my father-in-law, he had strong opinions and lived a full life. Much of my happiness I owe to him since he was the father of Nurit.

The Keys of a Life

The key to happiness is low expectations.

The keys of a life are even more prosaic.

These are the keys that I found in Jack’s desk and workshop when we cleared out his possessions after his death two years ago. Jack was my Father-in-Law and we had an erratic relationship. He lived an amazing life and grew up in times of extreme shortages. Continue reading “The Keys of a Life”
