This autobiographical book about the Civil Rights Movement and the authors conversion to Judaism is thought provoking, informative and beautifully written.
I read Lovesong at the insistence of Steve Gerst one of my hiking buddies and a dear friend. I had just read Conceiving God by David Lewis-Williams and didn’t think I needed another religion book from either side of the “is there a god” debate. Lester reminded me that one can be a good Jew without making a leap of faith. In my Judaism one is judged by ones deeds not ones beliefs.
