At a recent party I was chatting with another guest who bought up politics and as his first shot said that he used to work with a very conservative guy and that the guy was a hypocrite because even though he opposed the government being in the health care business he used medicare as much as possible. I answered that there is hypocrisy everywhere for instance when someone espouse a belief that we have to do something about global warming but has a vacation home or flies to Europe for vacation. Because I’m not quick enough I didn’t bring up the hypocrisy of sending your children to private school while opposing charter schools or opposing the second amendment while surrounded by armed guards.

Is it hypocritical to oppose in principle state aid to private schools, and in particular religious schools, but then to take advantage of a state tax credit offering indirect state aid to private schools and religious schools?
I think so.
On the other hand, I am strongly in favor of conservation and climate change initiatives but have a yard with grass requiring water. So call me a liberal hypocrite.
Anyone who thinks they are not hypocritical on some level is either delusional or hypocritical.
Agreed. Life is complex.
