DECLINE

Remembering

“The important thing to remember is that I’m probably going to forget.” Author unknown or perhaps forgotten I took this photo on the front lawn of hotel where we stayed next to Lake Iseo. It was a perfect spot for writing postcards. The Italian postal system is such a mess that I waited until I got home to mail all of the postcards. They tried to privatize the system and it failed.

An Affliction

“I’m okay if you don’t consider old age an affliction.” My good and thoughtful friend The photo is of the foothills of the Alps from the Bersi Serlina Winery where we stopped to do an excellent wine tasting and tour. I don’t remember much about the wine. The scenery was beautiful.

Auntie Florence

Tom and I went to visit Auntie Florence. She is 102 and is my mothers older sister. Tom is my brother. You can occasionally see Auntie Florence on Facebook, she lives alone but has lots of family nearby to support her. She teased me about being the only one not carrying a fashionable cane. Food for the Decline

“Old people shouldn’t eat health foods. They need all the preservatives they can get.” Robert Orben American Comedy Writer

Wisdom

“Wisdom doesn’t necessarily come with age. Sometimes, age just shows up all by itself.” Tom Wilson

Final Approval

“I didn’t attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.” Mark Twain At his sarcastic best.

Washington DC

“With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.” William Shakespeare This old postcard arrived from Columbus Ohio and since we are going to be in Washington DC I’m hoping to Folger Shakesperian Library and retake the image. We shall see. It appears that the library is closed but we should be able to get near it.

How Old?

“How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?” Satchel Paige Fruit Salad was beautiful and delicious at our second Seder.

Peter Max

“Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” Satchel Paige, Baseball Pitcher and Sage The image is of a postcard I received from Germany with an image that reminded me of Peter Max the Pop Artist. It is actually by Michael Craig-Martin who is certainly influenced by Peter Max. Max is still alive (85) but I don’t mind.
